Registration is done on a first-come, first-served basis. You must be a member of Tanglewood to register a child for camp. Membership fees are not included in the camp registration price. * Please note: Your child must have completed at least the earliest grade in the session to register - for example, your child must have finished Kindergarten to enroll in a Grades K-2 session.

Wacky Week (Grades K-2)

  • Discover the wacky ways things react during this experiment-filled week.
  • Make and enjoy your own ice cream.
  • Meet all of the wacky animals (like ferrets, snakes and owls) that call Tanglewood home.
  • Finish the week with by making heat sensitive slime.
  • This camp is ideal for kids who don't mind getting a little messy, are curious about the world around them and are ready for hands-on nature adventures.

Around the World in Five Days (Grades 3-5)

  • Explore the biomes from our backyard to around the world.
  • Learn about what makes ecosystems so unique with in depth explorations each day with the help of our animal ambassadors.
  • Design your own animal enclosures based on the biomes they call home.
  • Learn new and interesting facts all over - from the depths of the ocean to the heart of the rainforest.
  • This camp is great for kids who are interested in learning about the ecology of plants and animals both local and abroad.

Biome Buddies (Grades K-2)

  • Are you ready to explore all the habitats and biomes that make our planet unique? No passport required!
  • Explore the water source of the desert-vernal pools and create sand slime.
  • Do experiments to figure out how animals like polar bears and penguins stay warm in the Tundra.
  • Meet animals from all over the world like snakes, chinchillas and owls.
  • This camp is ideal for world travelers ready to have some hands-on, sometimes messy fun.

Treetop Adventure Camp (Grades 3-5)

  • With our canopy walkway opening in the next year, campers will get a preview of life among the treetops.
  • Learn about the amazing animals that call the treetops home, from arthropods and reptiles to birds and mammals.
  • Get out into nature with the basics of botany where we will be observing the many tree and plant species that call Tanglewood home.
  • Take part in fun activities such as making natural dyes with plants found on the trails, designing your own walking stick and getting out and maybe even climb a tree.
  • This camp is designed for kids who like to explore the outdoors and be creative with art projects.

Pond and Beyond (Grades K-2)

  • Spend the week exploring and discovering at the four different ponds we have at Tanglewood.
  • Catch and release frogs of various types along the edges of our ponds.
  • Meet animals such as salamanders, toads and even a ferret that call Tanglewood home.
  • End the week with a frog-themed scavenger hunt and slime making.
  • This camp is ideal for kids who want to get up close, messy and potentially muddy with our amphibian friends.

Nature of STEM (Grades 3-5)

  • Spend the week outside and in the museum getting hands-on experience with the world of science.
  • Not only will we be studying science, but we also will be looking at how technology, engineering and math are all interconnected and help us have a better understanding of nature.
  • Learn how drones are used to help wildlife researchers, design and race solar powered rovers and observe mathematical concepts such as geometry, symmetry and fractals out on our trails.
  • This camp is ideal for creative, inquisitive minds that enjoy being outdoors and creating experiments.

Super Senses (Grades K-2)

  • Learn all about the five senses and how humans and animals alike use them to survive.
  • Create an owl eyesight viewer to understand how Sophie the owl's eyes differ from our own.
  • Use your sense of touch to explore mud, slime and sand.
  • Explore your sense of taste and smell with some tasty food science.
  • This camp is ideal for kids who want to use all their senses to discover the world around them and who aren't afraid to get down and dirty.

Forest Investigators (Grades 3-5)

  • From uncovering fossils to solving riddles, each day brings a new mystery to solve in the great outdoors.
  • Use photography and nature journaling to fine-tune your detective senses.
  • Explore creeks, ponds and trees to find camouflaged creatures and hidden secrets of the woods.
  • Study animal tracks and design a camera study to find all sorts of animals.
  • This camp is ideal for inquisitive minds that enjoy solving puzzles while being outdoors.

Critter Care (Grades K-2)

  • Care for and meet some of the more than 40 species that call Tanglewood home during this hands-on camp.
  • Create enrichment and comfort items, such as blankets, to be used at Tanglewood and other animal shelters.
  • Practice your new animal care skills on take-home pets like pet rocks, pipe cleaner lizards, and even a dog made from recyclables.
  • This camp is ideal for kids who love animals, want to learn how to care for various animals, and aren't afraid to get a little messy while doing it.

Animal Pawsibilities (Grades 3-5)

  • Discover what amazing opportunities there are to work with animals.
  • Get hands-on with animal care, from preparing food for turtles to training sessions with our resident birds and mammals.
  • Learn about how scientists research wild animals and the various methods they use.
  • Put your skills to the test with practice “X-raysâ€� and pet exams.
  • This camp is ideal for kids who want to work with animals when they grow up and are ready for hands-on animal fun.

Dinos, Wings and Things (Grades K-2)

  • Explore different adaptations birds have by playing games and performing experiments.
  • Dig for fossils and exact dinosaurs from things like ice and slime.
  • Get up close and personal with the dinosaur descendants including birds, lizards, snakes and insects.
  • End the week with a dinosaur and bird scavenger hunt.
  • This camp is ideal for campers who love birds, bugs and dinosaurs and are ready to spend the days outside.

Kid vs. Wild (Grades 3-5)

  • This camp will put your outdoor skills to the test (in a fun way).
  • Learn how to use a compass, read a map and other orienteering skills.
  • Practice survival skills such as plant and animal identification, tracking, lean-to construction, fishing and fire starting all in a safe environment.
  • This camp will consist of various hikes on our trails, so be prepared for plenty of outdoor time.
  • This camp is ideal for kids who would like being outside for most of the day and would like to learn new camping and hiking skills.

Go Wild! (Grades 1-5)

  • Go home laughing and grass-stained after a day of playing games.
  • Sculpt mud pies and meet some muddy animals.
  • Perform science experiments like making your own lava lamp.
  • Spend the day hiking, exploring and playing on the trails.
  • This camp is ideal for kids who enjoy being outdoors and don't mind getting a bit messy.

Forts and Forests (Grades 1-5)

  • A week full of fun outdoors.
  • Go on a wilderness adventure and build a fort with your friends.
  • Make crafts using natural materials.
  • Play and explore in the woods and discover who or what might be living there.
  • This camp is ideal for kids who love being outdoors and don't mind getting a bit messy.
